Knit a Cable Sweater | October 5 - November 23, 2024

This is a 4 session in-person workshop.

LEVEL

Advanced beginner. Comfortable with knit and purl, knitting in the round, and basic pattern reading. Helpful to have either knit a simple sweater OR cables, but not required.

MATERIALS - please purchase pattern and materials prior to the first session. We have really wonderful options in the shop!

• Sweater No. 15 Pattern
• Either sport weight or a fingering held with mohair. We used Pascuali Puno and FCS Mini Marvelous Mohair for our sample. See pattern for specifics on yardage for sizes.
• US 6 & 7 32"+
• Cord Holders/Extra interchangable cords
• Removable Stitch Markers

HOMEWORK

• Swatch - With size US 7 needles, cast on 25 stitches and knit in cable pattern for approximately 35 rows. Lightly block your swatch. 
• If you need help with your swatch, gauge and/or sizing, please come in during our drop in help time on Fridays from 3-5. There is an additional $10 fee for this. 
• Once you've confirmed your gauge. Cast on 44 stitches. We will start on first WS row in class.

DETAILS

There are so many different types of sweaters - construction, styles and techniques! This sweater is knit from the top down, starting at the shoulders and using short rows to shape the shoulders. Then the back and front will be joined in the round. The dropped shoulder style sleeves are then picked up and worked in the round. The neckband is added last.

Basic sweater knitting OR experience with cabling is recommended, but not required.
